About Liz

PXL_20250531_221520856.jpg

Born and raised in Newtown, CT, Liz earned a Bachelor's degree in Geosciences from Franklin & Marshall College. She moved to Falmouth in 2011 after completing graduate courses in Geology at the University of Wyoming. Liz came to Falmouth with the intention of becoming an educator, but in the meantime she worked for various businesses, including a waitressing job at the Fishmonger Cafe. This was her first glimpse of the special nature of the Falmouth community.

Liz got her start in teaching as a long-term substitute at the Lawrence School, and after several years teaching at Falmouth Academy, she jumped at a chance to rejoin the Lawrence School in 2022. This year marks more than a decade in the classroom for Liz, and her passion for hands-on science education is as evident now as it was in her first year.

As a long-time volunteer for The 300 Committee, Liz is passionate about nature and land conservation.  In the past few years, Liz took a position on the Affordable Housing Committee and played a role on the Short-Term Rental Advisory Committee. Her passion for increasing the availability and affordability of housing in Falmouth comes from her love of the community.  Liz is interested in looking for ways that housing and conservation interests intersect, and she is well poised to help Falmouth address the opportunities presented by the Seasonal Communities Designation.

Liz lives in Falmouth with her husband Frieder, a scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, her son Rudi, a student at Mullen Hall Elementary, and 2 guinea pigs. She loves to go running, enjoys hiking with friends, and can frequently be found curled up with a good book.
